Where to stay in Lefke, Gemikonağı and Güzelyurt, North Cyprus

If you want peace, the sea and citrus groves rather than a busy resort, the west of North Cyprus is a good place to stay. Around Lefke, Gemikonağı, Yedidalga and Güzelyurt you can choose between hotels and guest houses, apartments and holiday homes, and places to camp by the sea. In this guide we give you a short overview of the area and the types of accommodation, and then an honest comparison of our own options on the shore at Yedidalga: a tent, your own camper or one of our rental campers.
The west of North Cyprus at a glance
This corner of the island lies on Morphou Bay (Güzelyurt Körfezi), between the plain and the mountains. It is known for its citrus: oranges and lemons grow all around.
- Güzelyurt (Morphou) is the bigger town inland, with shops and services, in the middle of the citrus groves.
- Lefke is the centre of the Lefke district — a green town known for its oranges, and home of the European University of Lefke.
- Gemikonağı is the small town on the coast near Lefke.
- Yedidalga, the village where we live, lies on the shore next to Gemikonağı, on the west coast of Morphou Bay.
Yedidalga is 48 km from Nicosia, 75 km from Ercan airport and 105 km from Larnaca airport. Our post on how to get to Yedidalga explains the ways to get here.

Types of accommodation around Lefke and Güzelyurt
Broadly, you can choose between three kinds of places to stay in the west:
- Hotels and guest houses in and around the towns — good if you want a room with service and don’t mind a short drive to the sea.
- Apartments and holiday homes — handy for families and longer stays, with your own kitchen.
- Camping and camper stops by the sea — the closest you get to the water and to nature, and the easiest way to travel on a budget.
Whatever you choose, a car or a bike makes life easier here. And if you came for the sea, sleeping right by the beach saves you the drive for a morning swim or an afternoon kite session.
A few questions are worth asking before you book anywhere: How far is it to the sea? Is there shade or cooling for the hot summer days? Can you cook? And is the place open in the month you travel?
Staying at Heaven Surf House: three ways to sleep by the sea
At Heaven Surf House in Yedidalga, everything is in one place by the sea: the first kite school in North Cyprus, the beach bar, the camping and three rental campers. Our beach house, the original surf house, is the heart of the place but not a place to sleep: you stay in a tent, in your own camper or in one of ours. Here is how the options compare.
1. A tent at Heaven Camping
Our camping is a shaded camp ground between lemon and orange groves and the beach, with hot showers, a shared kitchen, electricity, Wi-Fi and a fire and barbecue area. It costs 650 TL (€12) per person per night with your own tent, or 800 TL (€15) with a tent from us.
Good for: solo travellers, groups of friends, families who love the outdoors, kite students and anyone on a budget. The camping is open all year round.
2. Your own camper at the camper stop
Come with your van or motorhome and park at our camper stop, with electricity for your camper, fresh water, hot showers and clean toilets. It costs 1100 TL (€20) per camper per night, and you book it with the same online camping form as a tent.
Good for: road-trippers who want a safe, simple base for a few nights or longer. Our campervan guide covers ferries, driving and insurance.
3. One of our rental campers
Our three campers stand in the camping area. The Orange Camper sleeps up to 4 people for €75 per night, with electricity, lights, a cooker and a stove inside. The Volkswagen camper sleeps up to 2 for €45 per night, with electricity, lights, a cooker and a stove in the shared spaces. Both have a view of the sea and the kites. The Love camper is a small camping trailer with just a double bed inside, for 2 people, tucked away in a quiet corner of the camping (per night: €55). With all three you use all the camping facilities.
Good for: couples and small families who want a bed and a roof without giving up the camping life. Staying for a month? Ask us about monthly rental.
Which option suits you?
- Lowest budget: a tent — your own or one of ours.
- Travelling by road: the camper stop, with electricity for your camper.
- A bed, still outdoors: the Volkswagen camper or the Love camper for two, or the Orange Camper for up to four.
- Working remotely: the camping or a caravan — Wi-Fi and power outlets are around the camp. Read more on our remote work page.
- Learning to kite: stay at the camping and book a Kite & Camp weekend or kitesurf lessons.
Planning a longer stay, for a month or a whole season? Ask us about monthly rental of the caravans. Families with children are welcome at the camping: there is a swing and a slackline in the camping garden, and we keep a family atmosphere for everyone.
