Remote work by the sea in North Cyprus: a workation at a beach camp

Yes, you can work remotely by the sea in North Cyprus — and a beach camp is one of the most relaxed ways to do it. At Heaven Surf House in Yedidalga, on the west coast of Morphou Bay, there is Wi-Fi in the camping and living areas, power outlets around the campsite and shared tables in the shade. You work in the morning, and in the afternoon you go kitesurfing or paddle at sunset. Here is how a workation with us works, and what to plan before you come.

Why a workation in North Cyprus

Cyprus has long, sunny seasons and a mild winter, and the west of North Cyprus is a quiet place to slow down. Around Lefke and Gemikonağı, life moves at a village pace: citrus groves, the sea and the mountains behind.

For digital nomads it is also an easy place to mix work with sport. Our spot in Yedidalga gets a steady thermal wind of around 20 knots from April to October, and the first kitesurf school in North Cyprus is a few steps from your table. In the evenings you meet nomads, surfers, creatives and explorers from around the world.

Internet, power and places to work at Heaven

This is what our camp offers for remote work:

  • Wi-Fi: stable internet throughout the camping and living areas, for meetings, emails and creative work.
  • Power: outlets around the campsite keep your laptop, phone and gear charged.
  • Places to work: communal seating areas and shared outdoor tables — good for laptops, brainstorming with new friends or small team calls.
  • The basics: hot showers, toilets and changing rooms, and a shared kitchen with a fridge, a cooker and a kettle for coffee between tasks.

We are a camp, not a coworking office. Plan your calls with the sound of wind and waves in mind, and keep a mobile data plan as a back-up for important meetings. You can read more on our remote work page.

Is a beach workation right for you? If you need a private office and silence for video calls all day long, a room in town may suit you better. If you are happy with shared tables, fresh air and a simple life, and you like the idea of finishing your day in the sea, you will feel at home here.

A day of work and kite sessions

The best thing about working by the sea is the rhythm. A day at Heaven could look like this:

  • Morning: coffee by the sea, then your focused work while the day is still fresh.
  • Midday: lunch from the shared kitchen, or a break at the beach bar, open from 09:00 until sunset.
  • Afternoon: close the laptop and go out on the water — a kitesurf lesson or a kite session when the wind comes, or a paddle board on a calm day.
  • Evening: sunset, the camp fire and a quiet night. Quiet hours at the camping are from 23:00 to 08:00.

New to kitesurfing? Our post on how long it takes to learn kitesurfing helps you plan lessons around your working hours. Already riding? You can rent equipment or book supervision at the spot, so you don’t have to fly with your whole quiver.

Best seasons for a workation in North Cyprus

  • Spring and autumn are warm without the full summer heat — comfortable for working outside during the day.
  • Summer is hot and dry. Work in the shade, start early and keep water close; the nights here are cool.
  • Winter is mild, green and quiet, and the camping is open all year round — a calm time to focus, outside the main kite season.
  • April to October is the main kite season, with the steady thermal wind.

If the wind is part of your plan, our kitesurfing season month by month helps you choose your dates.

Practical tips: time zone, power, data and shade

  • Time zone: North Cyprus uses the same time as the south of the island — UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer. Turkey stays on UTC+3 all year, so in winter North Cyprus is one hour behind Turkey. Check your meeting times when the clocks change in March and October.
  • Plugs: sockets are the British three-pin type (Type G), at about 230–240 volts. Bring an adapter for each device you need at the same time.
  • Mobile data: EU roaming deals usually don’t cover North Cyprus, because phones here connect to Turkish networks. Check your tariff before you travel, or get a local SIM or eSIM as a back-up for calls.
  • Shade and heat: laptops and phones don’t like direct sun. Work under the trees or at the shaded tables, and keep your devices out of the midday sun.
  • Getting here: Ercan airport is 75 km away and Larnaca airport 105 km. Flights to Ercan go via Turkey; from Larnaca you cross to the north at a crossing point, with your passport or ID card at hand.
  • Entry rules: before a long stay, check the current entry and stay rules for your passport.

What to bring for a beach workation

  • Laptop, chargers and a Type G plug adapter
  • A multi-plug or a short extension lead
  • Headphones with a good microphone — wind and waves are part of the soundtrack
  • A power bank for long days on the beach
  • Your tent — or book one of ours, or a caravan
  • Something warm for the evenings, sun cream, a hat and sunglasses
  • Your kite gear if you ride, or rent it at the spot

Our kite and camping packing list has the full checklist.

Where to stay for a workation

For a short workation, a tent at Heaven Camping is the simplest choice: 650 TL (€12) per person per night with your own tent, or 800 TL (€15) with one of ours. Coming with your own van? The camper stop costs 1100 TL (€20) per camper per night.

If you want a bed and a roof, one of our caravans is a cosy spot for a longer stay, with the shared kitchen, showers and toilets just steps away: the Orange Camper for up to 4 people at €75 a night, the Volkswagen camper for 2 at €45 a night, or the Love camper, a small trailer with a double bed for 2. For a month, ask us about monthly rental.

Book your tent, the camper stop or one of our campers directly with the online reservation form, or tell us when you would like to come and how long you want to stay through our contact page. Work inspired, then live fully — see you by the sea.
