Kitesurf packing list for a kite and camping trip to North Cyprus

For a kite and camping trip to North Cyprus you need less than you think. Pack your passport or ID card, a wetsuit or lycra for the season, strong sun protection, sea shoes for the pebble beach, a head torch and something warm for the evenings. Kite gear, wetsuits and even a tent can be rented from us at the spot in Yedidalga — so you can travel light, or bring your own quiver and use our kitchen, showers and repair service.
Here is our complete kitesurf packing list, from the kite bag to the camping kit, with what we already have for you on site.
Kite gear: bring your own or rent at the spot?
Both are easy. If you love your own kites, bring them. If you would rather not fly with a big kite bag, rent from us.
If you bring your own equipment
- Kites: one for the usual thermal wind (around 20 knots in the season) and a smaller one for stronger days. Kite size depends on your weight and the wind — if you are not sure, ask us before you pack.
- Board with fins and straps or bindings.
- Bar and lines with a working safety release, and a leash.
- Harness — waist or seat harness, whichever you are used to.
- Pump and a small repair kit: bladder patches, spare pigtails, a multi-tool.
- Helmet and impact vest, if you ride with them.
Flying with kite gear needs a little planning: airlines have their own rules for sports luggage. Our travel tips for kitesurfers explain how to pack your kite bag for the plane. And if something breaks during your trip, we do kite repairs at the spot, from €13.
If you rent from us
We rent modern, well-maintained gear: kites, twin-tip boards, harnesses, bars and safety systems, helmets, impact vests and full wetsuits for all seasons. A full kit (kite and board) costs from €40 for 2 hours; for longer stays the daily rate goes down from €55 per day (1–2 days) to €30 per day (10 days or more). All prices are on our kite rentals page. To rent, we need proof of your experience — for example videos of you kiting. Tell us your weight and your dates when you reserve, and we prepare the right gear for you.
If you come for lessons
Then you don’t need any kite gear at all. For the lessons we supply your full kite equipment — kite, bar, board and harness — plus a wetsuit, a waterproof radio helmet, a life vest and Sea Specs sunglasses for the water. You only bring sun cream, a towel and, if you like, sea shoes. See our kitesurfing lessons.

Wetsuit, lycra and water wear
Which wetsuit you need depends on the month — and if you come for lessons, the wetsuit is included. As a rule of thumb for Cyprus:
- July to September: lycra or boardshorts; a long-sleeved lycra protects you from the sun.
- June and October: a shorty or a thin neoprene top.
- November to May: a 3/2 or 4/3 full suit — 4/3 in the coolest months, from December to March.
Our kitesurfing season guide has the water temperatures for every month. Also pack:
- Sea shoes or neoprene booties — the beach is pebbles.
- A windproof jacket or a poncho for after the session: in the wind you get cold quickly, even on a warm day.
- A quick-dry towel.
Sun protection: the sun is strong here
On the water you get the sun twice: from the sky and reflected by the sea. In summer it is very strong. Pack:
- Water-resistant sunscreen with a high protection factor, and lip balm with SPF.
- Sunglasses with a strap, so they stay on in the water.
- A cap or hat for the beach.
- A long-sleeved lycra for long sessions.
- After-sun and a refillable water bottle — drink plenty of water.
Camping kit: what to bring and what we have
At Heaven Camping you sleep in the shade of the trees, between lemon and orange groves and the sea, a short walk from the kite beach. A lot is already there for you:
- Hot showers, toilets and changing rooms
- A shared kitchen with gas stove, electric kettle and refrigerator
- Electricity for charging, and Wi-Fi
- A shaded area for tents and a fire and barbecue area
- A washing machine — 300 TL (€6) per wash
- Sun-beds and the beach bar, open from 09:00 until sunset
- The nearest market, a 5-minute walk away
So this is what you bring:
- A tent — or rent one of our 20 tents. Camping costs 650 TL (€12) per person per night with your own tent, or 800 TL (€15) with a tent from us; in summer, book it ahead.
- A sleeping bag and a mat. In the Kite & Camp weekend they are included; for other stays you can rent a sleeping bag from us for 250 TL (€5) per night, and ask us about a mat when you book.
- Something warm for the evenings: even in the hottest season, the nights here are cool.
- A head torch. The kitchen lights go off at midnight and all lights at 01:00.
- Earplugs, if you sleep lightly — quiet hours at the camping are from 23:00 to 08:00, but you sleep outdoors.
- Insect repellent for the summer evenings.
- A reusable cup and bottle. We are a campsite that cares for nature, and less plastic helps.

Please read our camp rules before you come. Travelling with a camper or van? Our camper stop has electricity for campers, fresh water and hot showers. Prefer a bed? Book one of our three campers.
Documents, money and plugs
- Passport or ID card. Citizens of the EU and the Schengen area can usually enter North Cyprus with a national ID card; most other visitors need a passport. Rules depend on your nationality and on your route, so check your government’s current travel advice before you go. The camping registration also asks for your ID or passport.
- Travel insurance that covers kitesurfing — check that it is valid in North Cyprus.
- Driving licence, if you want to rent a car. In Cyprus, traffic drives on the left.
- Money: the currency in North Cyprus is the Turkish lira. Cards are widely accepted, and in tourist areas euros and pounds often are too. At Heaven Surf House you pay in cash.
- Plug adapter: sockets are the British three-pin type (type G), 220–240 V.
- Your IKO card or logbook, if you have one — it shows your kite level.

Small things that make the trip easier
- A waterproof bag for your phone and keys at the beach.
- A power bank for long beach days.
- A small first-aid kit with plasters for small cuts.
- A book or a musical instrument — our evenings are slow: sunset by the sea, music and a fire under the stars.
- Fewer clothes than you think. Life at the camping is simple: shorts, a T-shirt, a warm layer and your swimwear.
Forgot something? Don’t worry. Kite gear and wetsuits can be rented, the market is a short walk away, and we are always happy to help. More answers are in our kitesurfing questions and answers.
